Grand old hotel with gorgeous lobby. Rooms are a little plain but clean and comfortable. The location is downtown and has lots of restaurants and bars around. Unfortunately the surrounding area is littered with trash and in need of repair and updates.

I had a very disappointing experience at Gamma Monterrey Ancira during the Ironman 70.3 Monterrey weekend. The hotel was clearly aware that more than 85% of its occupancy was related to the event, yet the service and organization were extremely poor. The internet and phone service did not work properly throughout our stay, which is unacceptable—especially during a major international event when guests need reliable communication. Additionally, during dinner, room service did not have several items listed on the menu available. After a long day of travel and race preparation, this was extremely frustrating and reflected poor planning, especially knowing the hotel was nearly full due to the event. To make matters worse, the hotel did not offer early breakfast accommodations on the morning of the race. For an event like Ironman 70.3, where athletes must leave very early, providing at least a basic early breakfast option should be standard practice. The lack of planning and consideration for guests participating in the event was very disappointing. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, particularly given the importance of the weekend for so many guests. I would not recommend staying here during major events unless significant improvements are made.

I paid for two king size rooms and was put into one queen and one king.The room was only partially clean and there was hair in the tub,carpet was not vacuumed,air conditioning vent was leaking the whole stay,the floor around the base of the toilet was filthy from build up grime,there were left over tags in the closet from previous guests.

Elegant old grand dame. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful spaces and finishes. We had a room on the Fiesta Rewards floor (3) and the room was a small suite and very nice. Great location for seeing the sights on foot and plenty of great restaurants within an easy walk, too.

This is a grand old hotel, well over 100 years old. The architecture is wonderful, and the lobby is a great place to hang out. The rooms are quite nice (at least on the "Fiesta Rewards" floor, floor 3 — I didn't see the others). The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and quite functional. There is a fridge. I wish there was a reading (ie, comfortable) chair in the room, but there wasn't — only a desk chair on casters. The restaurant did not have the most interesting menu, but the food was really well prepared — the salmon was really good! We didn't try the breakfast buffet. I couldn't figure out when the in-hotel Starbucks was open. Supposedly it opens at 8, but it wasn't the one day I checked it out. The front desk staff are very friendly and competent. Strongly recommended if you want an "old world" experience in the heart of Monterrey.
