GRUPO POSADAS PULLS GILCHRIST & SOAMES TOOTHPASTE FROM ITS HOTELS

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (Aug. 15, 2007) – In response to Gilchrist & Soames toothpaste recall, Grupo Posadas has safely disposed of its inventory.

Yesterday, Indianapolis-based Gilchrist & Soames issued a worldwide recall of its China-manufactured toothpaste. The company says tests have shown that the toothpaste contains diethylene glycol, which can be harmful to children or people with kidney or liver disease. The toothpaste has been distributed to hotels worldwide, including Fiesta Americana.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated it is not aware of any poisonings from the toothpaste.  In the interest of providing continued superb services, safe amenities and products to our guests, Grupo Posadas has immediately removed the Gilchrist & Soames toothpaste from its properties.  Grupo Posadas will now be providing Crest toothpaste to its guests.

Grupo Posadas, with over 37 years in the hotel marketplace, operates 97 hotels and more than 18,000 rooms in 50 beach and city destinations in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.  In Mexico, the company operates 20 percent of its rooms in the tourism segment.  Its eight hotel brands are Aqua, Fiesta Americana Grand, Fiesta Americana, Lat 19°, Fiesta Inn and One Hotels in Mexico, and in South America, it operates Caesar Park and Caesar Business, making it the leading Mexican hotel operator in Latin America.  Grupo Posadas has been listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange since 1992, with the ticker symbol “POSADAS.” For additional information, visit its website www.posadas.com.
